There are two types of currents in miniature fuses:
1. Instantaneous current 2. Nominal current Instantaneous current refers to a current in which the fuse is capable of operating in an instant (less than 1 second) and is usually written as a large number such as 3000 or 6000 in a rectangular box. The rated current is the maximum current at which the fuse can operate, and if a current exceeds it, the fuse breaks the circuit.
There are several types of fuses, including:
Type B = for lighting Type C = Low power motor such as air conditioner motor or domestic water pump (most common type of fuse) Type D = Transformer for high power motors Type K = Power for industrial motors that are under high load Type Z = Highly sensitive, application in high sensitivity circuits. The instantaneous current operation of this type of fuse is only 2 to 3 times the rated current. Miniature keys are one of the most sensitive tools that can cause irreparable damage and costs if they are defective or substandard.
