In many cases, especially when the concrete is exposed to water pressure, it becomes impermeable. The water sealability of the concrete is related to the amount of cement and mixing water and how long it is to work in favorable conditions. Concrete with a low slump and a water-to-cement ratio of less than 0.49, if properly designed and operated, are almost sealed. The materials used for sealing are usually waterproofing materials (including oleic acid, stearic acid or pentachlorophyll) and pozzolans.
