Energy-saving bulbs or compact fluorescent bulbs or incandescent bulbs are a type of light source from the family of fluorescent bulbs. Purchasing energy-saving light bulbs at the time of their inception was designed and marketed to replace incandescent light bulbs with high power consumption. Compared to incandescent bulbs, these bulbs produce more light and consume less power and have a longer life. But they are more expensive than tungsten lamps.
LED bulbs typically consume less power than incandescent bulbs. Of course, this is not always the case and depends a lot on the elements used in both types of lamps. It can only be said that a 10-watt LED lamp has more light than a 10-watt incandescent lamp when the elements of both lamps have the same level of quality.
The same is true of comparing lamp life; Nominally, an LED lamp has a useful life of about 50,000 hours, while an energy-saving lamp has a useful life of 8,000 hours. But in practice it can be seen that these figures are somewhat different from the real figures.
Below the light-emitting surface inside the energy-saving lamp, there is some mercury, which is very toxic. If the lamp tube is broken, the low consumption of this substance will spread in the environment and can cause poisoning. But this only happens when the tube breaks, otherwise there is no danger in using this lamp. Another issue is throwing away energy-saving light bulbs. Most consumers throw the bulb in the trash with other waste after it burns or breaks down. Energy-saving light bulbs are harmful to the environment because when transporting or accumulating waste, the tube of this light bulb is likely to break and the mercury inside it will leak out into the environment, causing environmental pollution.
Advantages of low consumption lamp
These bulbs last about eight times longer than incandescent bulbs.
Although fluorescent bulbs are more expensive than incandescent bulbs, they are more economical in the long run due to their lamp life and power consumption.
Low-energy light bulbs significantly reduce power consumption compared to incandescent bulbs. These bulbs consume one-fifth of incandescent bulbs.
Disadvantages of low-consumption lamps
Unlike conventional light bulbs, they have a delay in turning on when the key is pressed.
Due to the emission of ultraviolet (UV) rays and blue light, it poses a threat to human health.
Energy-saving light bulbs contain mercury, which complicates the process of destruction and recycling. Therefore, the unprincipled destruction of these lamps and their abandonment or breaking in nature will lead to soil and climate pollution.
These bulbs emit more greenhouse gases than incandescent bulbs.
Pallor on items such as fabrics, carpets, and UVs that are sensitive to UV rays.
Over time, their exposure decreases.
