The additive of air-conditioning concrete bubbles has a long hydrocarbon chain on one end and a polar component on the other. The polar head tends to be in the water and the non-polar head tends to be in the air. These orientations stabilize the bubbles that enter the concrete mix. Of course, there are various components in the mixing plan that will affect the amount of fresh concrete air. For example, components such as increasing the amount of cement, increasing the softness of the cement, and increasing the temperature and pumping the concrete will reduce the amount of air, and components such as increasing the amount of alkali will increase the amount of air in the concrete.
